What is today an integral company in the logistics field, came into existence at the start of 1940 in the port of Valparaíso, through the work of its founder Mr. Oscar Perrot Salcedo.
He began his career distributing ice, essential for the preservation of food, between the “Luis Arteaga” cold storage facility and the cities of Valparaíso and Viña del Mar.
Later, along with the Administration of the cold storage facility, the first integration of the company takes place, unifying the activities of Cold Storage and Ice Distribution.

Lo que es hoy una empresa integral en el tema logístico, bodegaje y distribución, nace a comienzos del año 1940 en el puerto de Valparaíso, de la mano de su fundador Don Oscar Perrot Salcedo.
Es él quien se inicia en la distribución de hielo, actividad esencial para la conservación de los alimentos y que la desarrolla entre el Frigorífico “Luis Arteaga” y las ciudades de Valparaíso y Viña del Mar.
Mas tarde, con la Administración del Frigorífico, se verifica la primera integración que hace una Empresa del Grupo, unificando las actividades de Almacenaje Refrigerado y Distribución de Hielo.
Es así como se encuentra la brecha para otra actividad, el flete de las frutas de exportación almacenadas en el frigorífico, a las naves que transportaban los primeros cientos de miles de cajas desde este puerto al resto del mundo.
El siguiente paso es natural, había que realizar los fletes de carga suelta de importación y exportación. Entonces, la carga recibida en el puerto era trasladada a los principales polos industriales de Santiago.
Con la llegada de los primeros contenedores al país, se produjo una gran revolución en la Industria del Transporte. En la década de los 70, EMPRESAS PERROT enfrentaba con total éxito este desafío, que vino a cambiar el manejo de la carga que nos confiaban nuestros diversos clientes.
Serían esos mismos clientes, nacionales y multinacionales, de distintos rubros, los que buscando ampliar sus horizontes comerciales en los años 80, propician las condiciones para integrarse a la conquista de los países del MERCOSUR, comenzando así nuestra etapa de transporte internacional, que nos llevó a abrir oficinas e instalarnos en Buenos Aires y Sao Paulo, continuando con el crecimiento, ganando terreno y experiencia más allá de nuestras fronteras.
En esta misma década, los 80, en vista de la apertura de grandes proyectos de inversión en infraestructura, comenzamos a proporcionar el transporte para diferentes obras de gran envergadura.
Junto con la llegada del nuevo milenio, recibimos un nuevo desafío. Desarrollar un nuevo concepto de Operador Logístico de Comercio Exterior In-house. Entonces nace MERCOMEX, que coordina todas las actividades, desde la Planificación de las exportaciones; el seguimiento a la llegada en los destinos del mundo, incluyendo el transporte a puertos.
En el caso de las importaciones, el trabajo se inicia desde el soporte para la generación de contratos y ordenes de compra, pasando por el traslado de la carga desde puertos y aeropuertos a la recepción en sus centros de distribución y fábricas.
El desarrollo es sostenido, se hace necesario disponer de una bodega de tránsito de las mercancías de nuestros clientes. Partimos con los primeros 1.000 m2 a principios del año 2000 y actualmente administramos más de 12.000 m2, con altos estándares de control de calidad, higiene y seguridad.

This is how a new opportunity was discovered, the transport of fruit stored in the cold storage facility to the ships that carried the first hundreds of thousands of crates from this port to the rest of the world.
The next step was a natural one, the transport of loose import and export cargo was needed. Then, the cargo received at the port was transferred to the main industrial centers of Santiago.
With the arrival of the first containers in the country, there was a great revolution in the Transportation Industry. In the 1970s, EMPRESAS PERROT successfully tackled this challenge, which changed the way we handled the cargo entrusted to us by our clients.
It would be those same clients, national and multinational, from various industries, who, seeking to expand their commercial horizons in the 80s, created the right conditions to join the conquest of the MERCOSUR countries. Thus began our stage of international transport, which led us to open offices and settle in Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo, continuing to grow, gaining ground and experience beyond our borders.
In this same decade, the 80s, in light of the launching of large infrastructure investment projects, we began to provide transportation for different large-scale projects.
Along with the arrival of the new millennium, we took on a new challenge: Develop a new concept of in-house International Trade Logistics Operator services. Then, MERCOMEX was born, which coordinates all activities, from Export Planning, to following-up on cargo arrivals across the world, including transport to ports.
In the case of imports, our work began with supporting the generation of contracts and purchase orders, through the transport of cargo from ports and airports to its acceptance at distribution centers and factories.
The company’s development was sustained, therefore, it became necessary to have a transit warehouse for our clients’ merchandise. We began with the first 1,000 m2 in the year 2000, and currently administer more than 12,000 m2, with high standards of quality control, hygiene and safety.
